It’s a wrap! Weezer finish numero siete!

It’s a wrap! Weezer finish numero siete!

As we reported a few weeks ago, Weezer has a new album on the way. Whether you care or not is another story altogether, it’s not like they’ve been showing much promise lately, anyhow. But for those of you who realize the band will never pen another Pinkerton (or even a Green Album, for that matter) and just try and take what you can get — a smart and bold approach, mind you — then perhaps this will put some fire on your scarecrow. If that last part seems lost on you, just ignore it and go with the flow…

Just the other day, band website guru Karl Koch posted the following:

“Today and yesterday there was more work done in the studio with Rivers [Cuomo] and Brian [Bell] sorting out some vocals and guitar stuff. In theory this was the last of the recording sessions for the 7th Album, but there may be more bits and pieces to do in the coming days. Soon mixing the new and revised material will be underway. And meanwhile the band will shortly be starting their rehearsals for the upcoming tour with Blink-182!”

At this point, if you can’t handle the tongue-in-cheek humor of the more modern and laid back Rivers Cuomo, then perhaps you should just stick to the back catalogue. Hey, there’s always that new Pinkerton re-issue to look forward to, right? It’s probably for the best.

As for the other gajillion fans, both here and overseas, new Weezer is on the way. It’s time to throw down a block party, or perhaps another hootenany? Only time will tell.
