Has Flight of the Conchords really run its course?

Has Flight of the Conchords really run its course?

Over the last two years, the dynamic Kiwi duo better known as Flight of the Conchords has captured our hearts and made us laugh so hard we choked on our spaghetti. And with two hilarious seasons and a couple of wonderful accompanying soundtracks under their belt, one would think that this was just the beginning for Bret and Jemaine. Sadly, however, we’re not so sure that’s what these boys want.

According to Rhys Darby, who plays the duo’s quirky manager, Murray Hewitt, the “guitar-based, digi-bongo, acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo” (as they’ve dubbed themselves) want to take a momentary pause before deciding the show’s future. Darby was caught saying to NME, “There’s no decision made. There’s been orders for another season, but I know the guys have a British mentality where you create something, you finish it, and move on.”

So it seems that for the moment Flight of the Conchords has an undetermined future and could literally come back as a movie, a stage show, or worst of all: nothing. Hopefully, these boys are just in need of a brief vacation. Surely they know that our lives just wouldn’t be the same without them, right?

  1. They’ll be back! They must.

  2. I heard the reasoning was because they found it getting hard to go on putting out quality stuff (like 3 songs a week) and decided to take a break instead of just going on with lower quality material.

I say good for them on that. I’d rather have less shows and quality material then yet another TV show sellout.

  3. Meh, just because the show’s over doesn’t mean the ultimate end of FOTC. They’re just sort of overwhelmed by their success.

  4. Choked on our spaghetti? What if I’m eating a PBJ, Franks? Huh?
