Exactly one week ago today, the music world was pretty much put on standstill after word surfaced that the rumors were not only true about Them Crooked Vultures’ existence, but that the supergroup of Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones would be making their debut with an official Lollapalooza aftershow on Sunday night.
Well, Sunday has come and gone and thanks to the glories of technology, now everyone can check out what all the fuss is about. As you’ll see below, two clips of the band’s debut performance have surfaced and do a pretty good capturing both the mayhem and the gritty, Zeppelin meets QOTSA sound.
In case you were wondering, that’s longtime Homme affiliate Alain Johannes holding down rhythm guitar.
Of the 12 songs performed during their Sunday night set, one track, titled “Nobody Loves Us and Neither Do I”, has since been sampled in a 14-second newly released promo video.
This song and others will likely find their way on to the band’s forthcoming debut which is rumored to be titled Never Deserved the Future and due for release on October 23rd.
And now you know what Them Crooked Vultures sound like…
Hat tip to Justin for the links…

Well, I’m not gonna complain about it. I’ve seen what he does to hecklers.
Umm … Homme was not only a founding member of Kyuss, but one of only two guys to be a constant presence in the band throughout its tenure.
I’m not trying to be an ass (my comment was mostly in jest), but at least get your facts straight if you’re going to take a shot at impressing all the cool kids on the internet.
that 14 second teaser is the sexiest 14 seconds ive ever heard
The people who recorded this were pretty ballsy. In fact, I might have been standing right behind the guy who filmed it. They were pretty clear that anyone caught taking pictures would be thrown out. I considered taking a picture as they left the stage, but didn’t want to risk missing any potential encores.
I feel like a lot of the songs were certainly better than some of the other songs, but overall, it should be a pretty solid album. I went in with low expectations, but the music really does rock and they all seemed extremely comfortable playing with one another on stage (or, I should say, Dave, Josh, and the other QOTSA guy seemed comfortable playing with the legendary JPJ).
If I’m not mistaken, the poster I bought says “Deserve the Future” so that could be a possible album title as well.
oh my god i’m in love all over again.
Oddly, if you also go to their official website, they have a t-shirt on sale. Nothing too exciting.. just.. something to take notice at.
No we can’t quit calling him “QOTSA’s JOsh Homme”. He is currently in QOTSA and Kyuss has not been in active band in 14 years. Not to mention QOTSA has been around for 12 years compared to 8 for Kyuss. Clearly, he is QOTSA’s Josh Homme. QOTSA is HIS band. Kyuss hand other founding members. So the answer is no. We can’t stop calling him “QOTSA’s Josh Homme”.
Can we stop calling him “QOTSA’s Josh Homme”? I much prefer Kyuss to QOTSA. ![]()
God that show was awesome.
