Citing “personal reasons,” U.K. rockers Maxïmo Park have canceled their upcoming U.S. tour a mere week before it was scheduled to get under way. The news comes from a handwritten noted posted on the band’s MySpace (via Pitchfork), which offers no further explanation for the decision, but does promise “as much passion and energy as ever” when the quintet “returns.”

The tour was scheduled to run until late September and included an appearance at this year’s Bumbershoot Music Festival in Seattle. No word on the band will reschedule the canceled dates.

The band’s previously scheduled European shows remain a go.
