New Apple event means… new iPods?
After all the rumors and hoopla, we finally have a confirmed date for the Apple event of the year, and it all goes down September 9th. Crunch Gear reports that the big soiree is based on The Rolling Stones song, “It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll (But I Like It)”, and when it comes to Apple, music-themed events mean only one thing: new iPods.
According to the rumors, the company’s new models will add a camera to the feature list for all iPods, which is pretty big news. This year, the iPod Touch, Classic and Nano will be getting cameras says Electricpig. And in another report, this time by Digittimes, the digital imaging specialists OmniVision signed a deal with Apple that makes them the sole supplier of the 3.2 megapixel CMOS imaging sensor, which will be used in the new iPod lineup.
If that’s not enough evidence for you, insiders at Apple Authorized Resellers have told Ars Technica that the current iPod stock is running low and the 08-09 models have been discontinued. Now that truly means only one thing (unless Apple has decided to give up on the most ubiquitous media player on the market)… new iPods.
We’ll see you at the store this winter.

about that new ipod touch with a camera….. of course you have one dont you? Yeah, and i almost believe that.
yay! a camera….. i was hopin for somethin more exciting…
Yo, so I was wondering why Apple won’t increase the capacity on their products. I mean imagine if you could buy a 32GB iPod shuffle for $200 (Not $230… what a weird price), now that would sure punch Microsoft and Sony hard.
They better bring back the 160 GB model or higher storage capactiy. For a few years there they kept doubling the storage size and then last year they scaled back the storage size. WTF!? I want all my music on one device! End rant.
“the company’s new models will add a camera to the feature list for all iPods, which is pretty big news. I know, I know, the iPod Touch already has one”
the ipod touch has no camera…
… BUT I JUST BOUGHT A NEW IPOD TOUCH! Which does not have a camera, by the way.
