Well, ladies and gentlemen, the day is finally upon us: the boys of Vampire Weekend have announced the followup to their 2008 earth-shattering, life-changing, totally-indie self-titled debut.

Contra is its name and January 12, 2010 (via XL Recordings) is its release date. The effort will sport 10 tracks, including “White Sky”, which we have all heard already. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, featured on the album artwork is none other than a polo shirt! Score!

As for what to expect? “It’s definitely going to be a recognizably Vampire Weekend sound, but there are going to be new sounds,” the band recently told Entertainment Weekly. “We’re trying to challenge ourselves not to use the same bag of tricks that we used on the first album — different instruments, stuff like that.”

Can’t wait.
