Pavement fever hits the U.K.

Pavement fever hits the U.K.

We’ll be honest: We’re kind of stoked about Pavement’s upcoming reunion. Like, really stoked… even despite the hellish, year long wait. But if current rumblings ring true, we might not be in the waiting room too long. Case in point, the lo-fi pioneers have plans beyond their New York shows and are looking to spread the love — this time, across the pond.

In an interview with NME (via Drowned in Sound), guitarist Scott “Spiral Stairs” Kannberg said the group will play some U.K. shows in 2010. Aiming towards the summer, Kannberg hinted that the band would possibly play the Mecca that is Glastonbury, which the band hasn’t done since they broke up over a decade ago. As for other big plans overseas, the band is keeping things simple.

“We’ll do what we need to do to satisfy our fans and what would be fun, but we’re not going to do anything stupid, any big festivals that are really dumb,” Kannberg said.

In case you missed it, the band also plans to tour in 2010 beyond the already scheduled, already sold out four NYC dates. Naturally, we’ll be sure to pass along the details as they’re handed down.

Pavement 2010 Tour Dates:
09/21 - New York, NY @ Central Park SummerStage
09/22 - New York, NY @ Central Park SummerStage
09/23 - New York, NY @ Central Park SummerStage
09/24 - New York, NY @ Central Park SummerStage

  3. [...] Malkmus and the gang (and NOT The Jicks) will be playing a venue near you! According to NME (via Consequence of Sound), Pavement and Spiral Stairs member, Scott Kannberg says, “There definitely will be [UK [...]
