Portishead has “big plans” for next release
As we told you last winter, Portishead has already begun work on the followup to 2008’s Third. And, if producer/instrumentalist Geoff Barrow’s recent comments to NME are worth anything, it won’t be your typical release… We’re talking Radiohead, NIN, Smashing Pumpkins type of stuff, people!
According to Barrow, the band is currently not under contract and, as a result, are weighing up options about how to release its new songs. He declined to give specifics, but said that the band has “big plans” for a new project coming “from a different angle.”
And we thought the fact we wouldn’t have to wait another 11 years for a new Portishead album was exciting…

YAY!! Agreed that their all-too-short set at Coachella was remarkable.
Hey Alex…finally something worthwhile from you….good on ya!

omg.
There one hour set at coachella was quite possibly the best one hour of live music i’ve ever experienced.
Saw them at Coach’08 and they were AWESOME!!! If you ever get the opportunity to see them live, take my advice…GO!!!
and maybe a world tour to follow
Come and tour in North America already!
Can’t wait for this. I’ve been living on Third, and Portishead…
This is fantastic! I grew up listening to Portishead and would love to hear some new stuff - finally! “Glory Box” was my introduction to the band; that incredibly sexy song with tantalizing lyrics sold me.
