You see, both Winehouse and Taylor are now proud founders of independent record labels.
As TwentyFourBit reports, Winehouse recently launched Lioness Records after being inspired by Berry Gordy’s Motown, and The Specials’ 2Tone label. Her first signing is Dionne Bromfield, a 13-year-old singer from London who happens to be her goddaughter. Awww.
Taylor’s label is called Terrible Records (we kid you not) and so far looks to be serving as outlet for the musician to release both solo material (see: Ryan Adams) and music he personally produced. According to Pitchfork, on October 13, the label will make its grand debut with a 7″ single that will include “Ghosts”, Taylor’s first solo song, under the moniker CANT. Then, three weeks later (Oct. 28), the label will release All of the Fire, a five-song 10″ EP created by Acrylics and produced by Taylor.
