Don’t hold your breath for that Libertines reunion…
Despite numerous lucrative offers and that unbelievable, too-good-to-be-true performance this year, The Libertines will not be reuniting come 2010. Sad, but true. So, who can we blame? Well, if blaming really is your bag, then lay it all on Carl Barat.
“I’m too busy next year,” Barat tells NME, without a doubt breaking the hearts of countless fans. “Maybe the year after that. See how it goes. When it needs to happen, it will fall into place. It’s more a way of life than a band for me. I’m not going to jump up there and play the songs for some money — if it feels right then it will fall into place.”
In a funny case of “fan fanaticism,” it seems Barat’s been “punk’d” recently:
“I keep getting kids texting me pretending to be Pete, which is a bit confusing because I never know when it actually is [Doherty],” he says. “Without realizing, I could be harming my diplomatic relations with Pete by sending reactionary texts.”
Jeez, fans will do anything these days. My question, how the hell did they get his number? Sigh, oh well, fingers crossed for 2011.
