R.I.P. Mika Miko

As the Los Angeles Times reports, Mika Miko, the Los Angeles noise punk outfit with six years and three full-lengths to its name (the most recent being this year’s We Be Xuka), has decided to follow in the footsteps of a-ha and call it a day.

“There’s no bad blood at all, we’re all still really good friends” said guitarist Michelle Suarez in an interview with the Times. “We’ve just been a band since high school and all of us are ready to move onto different things. We started the band for fun and wanted to end on a positive note.”

“We finally realized it was just taking too long for us to make music,” Suarez continued. “And business-wise, everything is so hard to coordinate.”

However, before Mika Miko is officially no more, the quintet will play the Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, TX next month. A 7″ and one final show in Los Angeles are also said to be in the works.
