Run DMC ready for the lights on Broadway?

Run DMC ready for the lights on Broadway?

Call it a bit premature, but apparently Run-DMC is in talks to hit up Broadway. Yes, Rev Run and Darryl “DMC” McDaniels are currently talking with Paula Wagner, Tom Cruise’s film producing partner (she’s responsible for those Mission:Impossible movies), about putting their story to the stage. Sound surreal? Well, that’s probably what Frankie Valli saidand U2and Green Day. Get the point?

“I feel their story lends itself perfectly to the stage,” Wagner tells Variety (via TFB). “This project has been a passion of mine for some time and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with them.”

It’s not so much of a stretch, really. Given the group’s influential nature, and their recent tragedies (Jason “Jam-Master Jay” Mizell’s 2002 death), a Broadway production just might work. Could you imagine the possibilites, too? Who’s going to play Jay? The Beastie Boys? Steven Tyler? Okay, we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

Go do your magic Wagner.
