LCD Soundsystem giving away 20,000 free downloads of “Bye Bye Bayou”

As we told you earlier this month, LCD Soundsystem covered Alan Vega’s song “Bye Bye Bayou” for a brand new single. Like most bands these days, James Murphy and Co. decided to give fans an early preview ahead of the single’s November 7th release dates by streaming the track on the website 22 Tracks. And like most things that get streamed these days, “Bye Bye Bayou” eventually leaked onto the Internet, enabling kids to download the track for free. Well, this has caused LCD Soundsystem to take drastic actions, like the type that sees the song now available as a free, legal digital download.

Per the band:

well, bye bye bayou totally leaked everywhere, which shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, since anything that exists is essentially all over the internet in 5 minutes—but it wasn’t actually supposed to come out until november 7th (that indie store vinyl day), so we’ve asked and parlophone have given us 20,000 free downloads to give away to the first, well, 20,000 people. one per customer. or downloader. or avatar or whatever.

The song can be had, for the cost of an e-mail address, at lcdsoundsystem.com… but hurry, there are only 20,000 copies available! If you miss out, “Bye Bye Bayou” will also be released digitally on November 24th.
