Lil Wayne pleads guilty, faces one year in prision

Lil Wayne plead guilty to attempted weapon possession earlier this morning (Oct. 22), and expects to receive a one-year jail sentence, the Associated Press is reporting.

The charges stem from the discovery of a gun on the rapper’s tour bus in Manhattan in 2007. Prosecutors said small amounts of DNA found on the loaded gun connected it to Wayne, evidence which is said to have been one of the primary reasons he decided to plead guilty.

Lil Wayne, who is 27, also is scheduled for trial in Arizona on felony drug possession and weapons charges. He has pleaded not guilty in that case, which arose from a January 2008 arrest at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint.

No word on what affect this will have on the rapper’s two upcoming releases
