Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy trailer released

The world’s love affair with John Lennon has only grown deeper over the years. Now diehard fans can get an intimate look into the brainy Beatle’s early life as it makes its way to the silver screen in Nowhere Boy.

As previously reported, the film will focus on the legendary musician’s life as a rebellious teen in Liverpool. Lennon was raised by his aunt Mimi after his mother, Julia, gave him away as a child. Central to the film is Lennon’s reunion with his mother and how she got him into rock ‘n’ roll (with the banjo initially) and her untimely death in 1958 when Lennon was just 17.

The film, actually shot in Liverpool, will be directed by Sam Taylor-Wood and is based on the memoir Imagine This: Growing Up With My Brother John Lennon, written by Lennon’s half-sister, Julia Baird. Lennon will be played Aaron Johnson, with Anne-Marie Duff playing his mom. A young Paul McCartney will be played by Thomas Sangster (aka the little blond boy from Love, Actually).

As you’ll find below, we got an early taste of what is to come in the form of a newly unveiled trailer for the film.

The film is set to be released on Christmas Day in the U.K. The Weinstein Company owns the rights to the film in the U.S., but has yet to set a date of arrival for us kids.

 1. Pathetic. No resemblence whatsoever to John Lennon - even the accents sound more like East London than proper scouse (Liverpool accent). JWL must be turning in his grave.

 2. Fantastic! Should be quite intriguing.
