Red Hot Chili Peppers plan 2010 release

With enthusiasm again behind them and a self-imposed hiatus scheduled to end this month, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have begun plotting their next move. And as drummer Chad Smith revealed in a recent interview with Clash Music, this next move will include a new studio album in 2010.

“We’re gonna write for a while, it usually takes us a while,” explained Smith before speculating that the release date would be “Some time next year, maybe this time [next year].”

Oh, and as for whether the current goings-on between Flea and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke would have any influence on the album?

…Smith said that his colleague had given him a cd of electronic beats to inspire him but that, at the moment, there wasn’t an explicit electronic direction although he did speculate, “You never know. We’ve got songs with piano on them right now, so who knows.”

Smith gave no indication as to the band’s other plans, but you can probably guess/wish/hope what that might include.

  1. dude

  2. well I really must say they are the fucking best live band in the world and I am looking forward to see them live in 2010 no matter what

as of Captain Asshole I need to disagree I mean he should compare Storm In A Teacup to Desecration Smile and tell me how they shall sound alike
they surely have become suckers for smooth melodies but their sound still is as groovey as on Freaky Styley
and if anyone doesn’t appreciate the guys’ good taste of music I (personally) cannot understand that

but music is a matter of taste and RHCP suits mine

    what more can I say?

  3. Hooray Captain Asshole is back,

Although a fan of RHCP myself. I begrudgingly have to agree with Captain Asshole. See folks, this is the civilized way of being a fan. I don’t like what Captain Asshole had to say. But I don’t call him a “cockamaymmy douche” or other stupid name to try and be mad at him, for having his own opinion. Plus its Captain Asshole. The name speaks for itself. Nice to see you back there guy.
In the unfortunate manner of quoting STAIND “Its been awhile”? where you been?

  4. If I were a betting man, I’d say that this album is going to sound nearly identical to every other RHCP album that’s come out since Californication.

  8. “Horrible live band”???

OK, I’ll admit that Kiedis’s voice is not always great, but honestly the band’s improvisations and energy make up for that. One of the best live experiences I’ve ever had, for sure.

  9. 2010 festival whores

  10. i’ll agree horrible live band

  11. Horrible live band? What? I’m not a fan of arena shows generally, but their show I saw in 2007 was great even though I had not very good seats.

  12. horrible live band!
