The Flaming Lips (w/ Henry Rollins and Peaches) to cover Dark Side of the Moon

Throughout their 25+ year existence, The Flaming Lips have often shown the ability to capture one’s attention, whether in the form of walking on top of fans in a giant bubble, shelling out a pretty decent double album for their 12th full-length release, or bringing a gong to late night television. But the following news might just take the cake:

According to Los Angeles Times (via P4k), The Flaming Lips will follow up the recently released Embryonic with a full album re-do of Pink Floyd’s 1973 classic Dark Side of the Moon. While details remain a bit sketchy, the album is said to a collaborative effort with Stardeath and White Dwarfs, aka the band that features Wayne Coyne’s nephew Dennis, and sports the guest talents of punk legend Henry Rollins and electronic musician Peaches.

No word on a release date, but according to Pitchfork, it will likely be an iTunes-only release.
