Watch: Viva La Vida Weezer

Watch: Viva La <strike> Vida</strike> Weezer

For the past week, New York City has been awash with Weezer. Between multiple t.v. appearances, free shows, and a headlining set at MetroPCS’s Masquerade on Halloween (check back later today!), the four-piece from L.A. has given fans numerous chances to catch them live in NYC before they embark on an (abbreviated) U.S. tour.

With the release of Raditude looming, one would assume Rivers Cuomo and Co. would use these appearances to hype up the new LP. What one wouldn’t assume, however, would be Cuomo doing his best Chris Martin impression, covering Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” during a free, secret show for iheartradio. And this wasn’t just a simple acoustic cover… no, Cuomo brought along full classical accompaniment, further adding to the epicness of the performance. Violins and cellos were played, bells were rung, and Cuomo had the crowd “Woah”-ing with the best of them.

Rad, to say the least.

  1. I was tempted to say sacrilege but… Then again there’s Swedish pop singer Darin’s cover that is available for listen at Spotify. Now that’s sacrilege. This is at best cute and fun.

  2. sweet song,, sweet cover
