Expect a new Liars album next year, we guess
Liars are a rare breed. If the group’s name wasn’t reason enough to convince you of their bizarre nature, then their music should be evidence enough. I mean, who else do you know releasing concept albums about aesthetic characters named Drum and Mt. Heart Attack? That’s what I thought.
Well, it should come as no surprise then, that the same group doesn’t go about making new album announcements in a typical fashion. As inferred by Pitchfork (via OneThirty BPM), the recent updating of their MySpace page and the existence of a new website linked from said MySpace probably has something to do with a new album from the Brooklyn based noise rock group.
The website, which displays videos of nature coupled with loud ambient noise, is called sisterworld.com and is pretty damn mysterious to say the least. Perhaps Liars are just letting us know they like large branches and deserts. But, as Pitchfork points out, Liars’ publicist has confirmed that indeed, Liars will have a new album out in early 2010. Connection? Perhaps. A new album entitled Sisterworld? A more ambient record than 2007’s Liars? An environmentalist group called Sisterworld? Ok, I’ll stop. I guess Liars aren’t–as their name might suggest — lying about anything, they’re just not really giving us much to work with. But, hey, where would the fun be if they did, right?
For now, just keep your eyes peeled and enjoy these wonderful sounds and sights over at this peculiar little website.
