Peter Bjorn & John take “Young Folks” concept too seriously, throw birthday party tour
Being together for 10 years is a big deal for any band. Some celebrate by counting their blessings, others might issue a deluxe version of a milestone album. But if you’re Sweden’s Peter Bjorn and John, you throw one kickass weirdo party tour!
As of last week, the band, which its first rehearsal together on November 21st, 1999, was already on a U.S. tour in support of this year’s Living Thing. But nostalgia and opportunity presented themselves and now the upcoming dates will feature everything from guest performers (maybe a dancer, maybe some jazz musicians; mystery is fun) to crazy light shows to free giveaways to whistle-alongs to their big hit and even new and rarely played songs. According to the trio’s Twitter, the November 8th show in Philadelphia featured “spank rock, amanda blank, rose and the alien with the beer baby bong!” Oh, Swedish people.
The tour runs till November 21st in Los Angles, California. Opening up for the band is Lights On and their “favorite singer” El Perro Del Mar. Stay tuned to their Twitter and official site for details and hilarious insight into what is sure to be the best birthday celebration since Christmas.
