New Interpol album due out in early 2010
For awesome as the whole Paul Banks as Julian Plenti thing proved to be, one question still very much remains on our mind: When will Interpol followup 2007’s Our Love to Admire?
Well, thanks to a recent interview between drummer Sam Fogarino and Paste, we got our answer. According to Fogarino, the band spent the spring recording its still-untitled fourth album in Manhattan’s famed Electric Lady studios and will look to reveal the finished product on Capitol Records in early 2010. As in just a few months from now!
As for what to expect? “The new record falls back towards the first,” Fogarino told Paste. “In trying to move forward, there was an unspoken realization that you can’t let go of your sonic-defining tag. There was an effort in Daniel [Kessler]’s guitar tone; he rediscovered it playing in his loft space for a year without anybody. The quality of that tone, played in a big room, is just beautiful. It creates an atmosphere.”
The first, aka 2002’s Turn on the Bright Lights, aka as our 35th favorite album of the decade? Well, that’s good!

Lets hope they do move away from Our Love to Admire. Even interpol themselves were disappointed with that album (see interview this article is relating to)! Im holding my breath till the new album comes out, hoping they return to they’re roots.
i love interpol but their live sets are hit and miss. i am looking forward to a new record though.
They’re definitely a great band.
Can’t wait! The most underrated band out there!
This is great news.
Finally! I saw them at Coachella a few years back and I’ve been a fan ever since.
This has me excited! It’s been too long since their criminally underrated Our Love to Admire. Let’s hope they don’t move too far away from that direction; the atmosphere of the record was incredible.
