AM that is. The L.A. based singer/songwriter/musician is gearing up for his return. And as it turns out, this comeback will not only include the February 9th release of his new album, Future Sons and Daughters, but a little bit of Christmas cheer as well.
Drawing from his diversified love of Brazilian Bossa Nova, soul, and 1960’s rock, AM and producer Charles Newman (The Magnetic Fields) created Future Sons and Daughters with a vast collection of instruments (guitars, ukuleles, glockenspiel and synths) and a talented supporting cast. The end result, as the issued press released notes, is an 11-track record that “pays homage to the Tulsa-born, New Orleans-raised musician’s diverse influences such as Jorge Ben, Brian Wilson, Sergio Mendes and Curtis Mayfield, while showcasing his own songwriting chops, intelligent lyrics and psychedelic grooves.”
So far, so good, as evident by the recently unveiled video for the track titled “Grand Opinion”. In fact, it’ll probably make you a bit impatient, which is a good thing considering AM recently preceded the release of Future Sons and Daughters with a brand new three-track Christmas EP titled Holiday Happiness and Cheer.
His bossa nova synth rendition of Vince Guaraldi’s “Christmas Time is Here” (from the ever classic “A Charlie Brown Christmas”) is sure to break a few hearts (in a good way) and bring on the sentimental Christmas atmosphere. The following track “I’m Home for the Holidays”, will bring on the somber party with its folksy orchestral rhythm but will keep you wanting to hear more. AM will be performing all of the songs from Holiday Happiness and Cheer, this December 8th along with lovely lady guest, Sara Lov, at Hotel Café in Los Angeles.
You can stream Holiday Happiness and Cheer over at Filter and download it at iTunes. Advanced pre-orders for Future Sons and Daughters are now at ongoing AM’s official store.
