While most Berliners probably weren’t aware of it given the giant wall blocking their view, U2 did in fact perform earlier tonight (Nov. 5) in front of the Berlin Wall as part of this year’s MTV European Music Awards. And for as much as you want to hate on the former music network for its construction of the wall, it’s hard to find anything to criticize when it came to performance itself. After all, MTV did manage to unite U2 and Jay-Z for what can be described as nothing less than an incredible performance of “Sunday Bloody Sunday”. As you’ll see below (the real action begins at the three minute mark), Hova’s contribution comes in the form of a free style before ultimately culminating with a verse of Bob Marley’s “Get Up, Stand Up”.

And as if all this wasn’t enough, Jay-Z followed up the performance by announcing a new round of North American tour dates. The 2010 leg of his Blueprint 3 tour will kick off in late February and currently runs a month before capping off in Los Angeles, CA on March 16th. And according to Rolling Stone, dates for shows in Uniondale, New York, East Rutherford, New Jersey, Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Detroit, Michigan are still forthcoming. !
