Grammies are fucking lame first off why is kings use somebody on there for a rock song over sex on fire, them crooked vultures is nowhere to be seen, I love Dave’s grux and totally agree on album of the year but rock album? silversun and mgmt are not new bands. greenday 21 guns is probably the worst rock song of the year, and if a fucking bitch named lady gaga wins anything I give up on all hope for music. Go dmb and again where the fuck are them crooked vultures for best rock album? they must have 13 and 14 year old girls and emo boys picking the grammies this year again… fucking go figure
This list is truly a complete waste of a cool looking trophy. But instead of beating a dead horse (I assume it died because Taylor Swift sang to it), I will say that there are good nominees in the Alternative Album category and the rap categories.

The Black Eyed Peas… Album of the Year? Kill me now. At least there were interesting choices last year. This year, I’ve lost all faith in the Grammies.
I remember when MGMT and the Silversun Pickups actually WERE new and not new to mainstream hype bullshit. Somebody with a brain needs to run the Grammys. And the Oscars while we’re at it.
There are far too many errors on this to begin to dissect, and certainly having the best new artist category dominated by artists who are in no way new is a huge flaw.
But can we talk about the most obvious one? What the fuck are The Black Eyed Peas doing in record and album of the year category? None of the nominees had Top of The Year releases, but the Black Eyed Peas are so monumentally far away from any notion of quality, you’d think the nominating committee just gave up.
A complete and total embarrassment.
Grammy are a joke. Every once and a while they have a really cool collaboration on the show or let an artist outside of a Clear Channel radio station win.
As for the Best New Artist section…the grammy’s have long history of doing this. Fountains of Wayne and Kid Rock were both nominated 10 years after they were new. Of course the actual criteria (as I understand it) is that it’s for a new artist OR an unknown artist rising to prominence in that year. Silversun Pickups doesn’t fit either one of those.
Maybe some day the Grammys will get on track. Probably not in my lifetime. Bunch of rubbish.
that’s the most boring nominees list in years, especially the album of the year category. unless radiohead plays with a marching band again i can’t see myself tuning in.

i might be mistaken, but didn’t the Silversun Pickups first album come out in 2006? how is it that 09 is their debut?
