Fresh off the December 8th release of its new studio album, Ad Explorata, Sound Tribe Sector 9 (STS9) has unveiled plans for an extensive North American tour that will keep the California outfit on the road through March of next year. The endeavor, which will kick off with a series of New Years shows in Denver and an appearance on Jam Cruise 8, will see the band hit the west coast, head south, and then wrap around east before capping off on March 20th in St. Louis.

While some fans have been a bit taken back (or downright confused) by Ad Explorata—particularly those who prefer STS9’s jam band side over their more electronic sounds—the band is best known for its live performances and extensive touring. On its website, STS9 says that it was “inspired by the idea that there is always more to be discovered, manifested by the belief that you can always push towards the unknown and unexplored, and created by the will and desire for constant artistic evolution, expression and change.” So is this change for the better? The debate continues over their newest album, but their tour will be the true test for audience’s reactions.
