Now that Thom is done blogging about global warming, Radiohead can move on to what Radiohead does best — being Radiohead. And as Ed O’Brien revealed in a recent blog post (via TFB), the band’s forthcoming itinerary includes plans to hit the studio in January. Yeah, January, as in next month!
“The vibe in the camp is fantastic at present, and we head off into the studio in January to continue on from the work we started last Summer,” wrote O’Brien. “I am so genuinely excited about what we’re doing, but for obvious reasons I can’t divulge anything more… anyway we all love surprises don’t we?”
Details stop there for now, but if we based our assumptions off past evidence (especially the part about still recording albums), those upcoming studio sessions could lead the way to the followup to 2008’s In Rainbows. Then, there’s this little nugget that appeared back in November: Speaking with the The Herald newspaper, a violinist by the name of Richard Milone noted that he had just recently finished recording with the band. Followup emails for comment were never returned, but considering the above statement, perhaps we can assume Milone’s involvement was part of the aforementioned July sessions, which would mean LP #8 could feature some orchestral elements.

TAGGED AS: Radiohead
Radiohead is due for an album everyone hates.
Why do I have a feeling this will be the next decade’s OK Computer/Kid A? Is that even right, for a band to release great material in 3 decades? I hope so.
CANNOT… FREAKING… WAIT…
I have a feeling that any new Radiohead album will have a strong activist vibe (much more so than In Rainbows), a la some of the later Pearl Jam albums. Thom Yorke cannot be happy about the climate deal that was reached.
i think its great that radiohead will essentially be handing the world THE album of the new decade, for all to try and top. but it wont happen, because Thom Yorke controls all of us
