A couple of years ago, FX’s nip/tuck ran some commercials featuring Goldfrapp‘s “Ooh La La”, splicing in close ups of Maxim-esque models with sexually suggestive mannequins in lingerie. It seemed rather over the top at the time, but regardless of the pomp and glam, it only accentuated the sexy vocals of Alison Goldfrapp. Anyhow, she’s back, and with a fifth effort to “doll” up some more.

Titled Head First, the press release already hypes the album as “Goldfrapp’s most powerful trip to date, a speedy rush of synth optimism, euphoria, fantasy and romance.” Considering it was written and produced by bandmates Goldfrapp and Will Gregory themselves, it’s only natural that the thing sounds and feels organic, right? Due for a March release, the whole shebang will be supported with lead single, “Rocket”, which has been described as “a goose-bump brilliant tune.” Ooh, someone let R.L. Stine know he’s gotta run for his money.

Expect the band to hit the road on another stellar tour late in 2010, while mark your calendars as Head First will surface March 23rd via Mute.
