For starters, it’s a rare song. Performed under separate moniker, Link Cromwell, Kaye (of Patti Smith Group fame) put out the song back in 1966. Here’s where things get, well, interesting. Both Michael Stipe and Peter Buck won’t be on the song; instead, Mills will handle guitar and bass, while Berry carries tambourine and percussion duties. Who sings? Both of ‘em.
Hands down a great treat for any R.E.M. fan. Let’s hope this mini-reunion sparks some fire and Berry will put down the pitchfork, leave the farm, and sit behind the set once again. What better time than now, right?
Yeah, fool’s dream big.
