Next volume in Johnny Cash’s American recordings due out in February

As far as artists releasing stuff after their death, we’re not sure where we stand. Sometimes it’s good (see John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Milk and Honey), while other times it’d just be better to unearth their corpse (there’s seriously been almost six posthumous 2Pac albums). But when it comes to the news that the latest installment in Johnny Cash’s American recordings is getting released, we’re unequivocally excited.

American VI: Ain’t No Grave, which was announced by both the founder of Cash’s official site and an Amazon import list, would be the third posthumous Cash release since his death in September 2003. The American recordings were the Man in Black’s work with famed producer Rick Rubin from June 2003 up until just before his death and feature covers and collaborations and are much mere sedated and laid back folk songs then some of Cash’s earlier country romps. While there’s no official tracklist or cover art yet, there is a list of tracks (which we’ve listed below) with a strong possibility of making the cut.

American VI: AIn’t No Grave is scheduled for release on February 23rd, 2010, just three days before Cash’s birthday on February 26th. We’ll have more news on the first release since 2006′s American V: A Hundred Highways once they become official.

American VI: Ain’t No Grave Tracklist:
01. Ain’t No Grave
02. Redemption Day
03. For The Good Times
04. First Corinthians
05. Where I’m Bound
06. Satisfied Mind
07. It Don’t Hurt Anymore
08. Cool Clear Water
09. Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream
10. Aloha
