Chris Feinstein, best known as the bassist for Ryan Adams & the Cardinals, passed away at his Manhattan home in the early hours of Monday morning (Dec. 14th), reports Jambands.com (via TFB). He was 42.
As part of the Cardinals, Feinstein appeared on two full-length albums, 2007′s Easy Tiger and 2008′s Cardinology. As Jamband notes, Feinstein also sang backup vocals and frequently bantered onstage with Adams, who regularly sang “Happy Birthday” to the bassist as party of his stage shtick.
His other musical credits include work with Jack Ingram, Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr., and, most recently, Gin Wigmore.
Feinstein’s cause of death is not yet know.
