In terms of creativity and sheer number of projects, RZA is hip-hop’s version of Ryan Adams. After all, in addition his work with Wu-Tang Clan, four solo efforts, Blakroc, a collaboration with Fucked Up, a book (2005′s Wu-Tang Manual), and an acting resume (2007′s American Gangster), the hip-hop superstar can now also call himself a professional artist.

On January 1st, WAIL (When Art Imitates Life) will commemorate twenty years of the RZA with the unveiling of Victory Or Death, a highly limited final art least consisting of only 360 prints. According to an issued press release, the project is a “reworking” of history onto massive canvas that focuses on the concept of “hearing the call” and revolution in an inspiring and provocative way.

The origins of Victory Or Death began earlier this year as RZA started conceptualizing with WAIL, a company focused on creating fine art with musical visionaries at the helm of the creative. The group is owned by Sway and King Tech of the Wake Up Show along with Los Angeles creativity house SceneFour. Victory or Death is the first release under the WAIL art label.
