For at least three days in the not too distant future, Robert Randolph, John Medeski, Chris Chew, Cody Dickinson, Luther Dickinson will reforming The Word. Between December 30th and January 1st, the band behind 2001′s The Word will followup previous reunions in 2005 (that one took place at Bonnaroo!) and 2007 with three special shows in Philadelphia, New York, and Ft. Lauderdale.

If you weren’t aware, The Word is a super group of sorts. Robert Randolph is of course best known from his work with Robert Randolph and the Family Band, while you might recognize John Medeski as a member of Medeski Martin & Wood . The remaining three gentlemen come from the North Mississippi Allstars.
