It may take a lot to make the bagpipes rock, but everyone’s favorite Celtic punks Dropkick Murphys have been blasting their unique sound to fans worldwide for ten albums spanning nearly fifteen years. And these Bostonians are proud to annually place their aural stamp of approval on the most raucous St. Patrick’s Day Shows. Fortunately for those not able to make the trek to Boston to witness the experience themselves, or, like myself, are simply too concerned about leaving without a bloodied nose or a couple broken toes, DKM is set to release Live on Lansdowne, Boston MA. Via a DKM press release, The newest release will highlight the outfits St. Paddy’s Day gigs spanning “seven Boston shows in March 2009.”

The band’s second live release, “following 2002’s Live on St. Patrick’s Day from Boston MA, which has sold over 250,000 copies worldwide,” is set to hit shelves March 16, 2010 via the group’s own Born & Bred Records. The release includes 20 fan favorites, none of which appeared on the 2002 release, and will most notably include a live recording of platinum-selling single “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” with a guest appearance by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. The release will be available for distribution in various formats: CD, double disc digipack with CD and HD DVD, as well as a double gatefold vinyl with bonus CD insert.

As for those who want check out the live show themselves, the group is currently taking its signature brand of punk to a more international audience. For those of us in the states, DKM will make an East Coast and Southern swing at the end of February and continuing until March 12-17 where they will be celebrating St. Paddy’s Week with some extremely lucky fans, as tickets are nearly completely sold-out for all six shows. The remaining tickets for the Boston shows can be found via House of Blues-Boston, and all others US shows will be available via Ticketmaster.
