His first full-length record since 2007′s Bluefinger, the effort contains 11 tracks, including a cover of the Flying Burrito Brothers’ “Wheels.” But, perhaps most interesting, is the fact that the latest endeavor was recorded in Brooklyn, L.A., and a “haunted studio in London.”
On working in the spooky environment, Black said, “I wrote many a couplet by candlelight in the studio accommodation, slept very little, and only felt the need to get the fuck out of there fast on the last night. The spirits had not ever bothered me, other than low drama moral support, but I was informed that they had heard enough and it was time to move on.” Sounds freaky; we can’t wait!
We should also note that Black is currently working on a new Grand Duchy album, tentatively titled Let The People Speak. That, with a hefty touring schedule with the Pixies, means he’s basically not planning on sleeping any time soon.
NonStopErotik is due out April 6th.
