Watch: Red Hot Chili Peppers w/ new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer

On Friday night, ahead of the 2010 Grammy Awards, the likes of Elton John, Dave Matthews, Neko Case, Elvis Costello, James Taylor, and Wilco came together to pay tribute to this year’s MusiCares Person of the Year — Mr. Neil Young. And while Jeff Tweedy’s crew are said to have stolen the show, the evening’s most interesting moment came in the form of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ performance of “A Man Needs A Maid”.

After all, not only did the performance mark the band’s first live appearance in over a year, but it also served as the debut for new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who replaced longtime member John Frusciante last month. According to Spinner, “the band did not disappoint, going ‘soft, hard, and then soft again’ with a psychedelic version of ‘ A Man Needs A Maid.’” A good sign of things to come?

Video of the performance, albeit poor quality, can be seen below, while photos can be found at Stadium-Arcadium.com.
