Two new festival appearances worth noting, only one which you’ll probably care about.
First and foremost, Courtney Love and the current incarnation of Hole will appear at next month’s South by Southwest in Austin, TX. The appearance, which will feature a lineup of Love along with new members Micko Larkin (guitar), Shawn Dailey (bass), and Stu Fisher (drums), will use the opportunity to showcase its forthcoming studio album, Nobody’s Daughter. Exact specifics have not yet been released.
Now on to the good news. Among one of the three acts recently added to the Matt Groening-curated Weekend #1 of the All Tomorrow’s Parties music festival is none other than the lovely duo of M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel, aka She & Him. According to ATP’s Twitter, the appearance will mark one of the duo’s first ever appearances outside the U.S. (the festival’s publicist confirms additional dates are likely coming soon). So if you add the She & Him U.K. debut with the other new additions of the Liars and Trash Kit, as well as the previously announced likes of The Stooges, Spiritualized, Panda Bear, The xx, and Hope Sandoval among others, you basically get one hell of a festival. Maybe even better than what Pavement put together! Incredibly, limited tickets are still available.
TAGGED AS: All Tomorrow's Parties, Courtney Love, Daniel Merriweather, Hole, Liars, M. Ward, Matt Groening, She & Him, South By Southwest, Zooey Deschanel
There’s so much more she could have done with her life.
From what I hear and read (and I know better than to trust that…but…) seems that if she weren’t being creative artistically, that perhaps she could have done more with Frances..It appears she let that relationship go as well…
It’s sad, pathetic, and a tradgedy…I hope Frances will honor her father in ways Courtney never knew how. Especially with the mothering of Frances.
Irregardless of what everyone thinks of CL’s decisions- the fact is that she is the ONLY dangerous rock star that’s out there right now, and when the world actually takes a look at her work as a whole I think she’ll finally get the respect that shes earned as an iconic artist- I mean minus your personal beefs with her (which I’m assuming you have since you people have no problem spewing vehement dribble all over the internet) you have to admit that women’s perceptions in “rock” music is really “pre” and “post” Courtney Love (look up other ‘iconic’ women rock artists and the list gets pretty short; Joan, Patti, Stevie, Siouxsie, Karen?? Shirley??? Brody????)
P.S. I heard the demos I love Pacific Coast Highway, For Once in Your Life, and Samantha is an amazing balls out rocker- if yr still in love with Pretty on the Inside I get it- I love that record too, but people were saying the same things when Celebrity Skin came out (time sound etc.), and that record is loaded w/ amazing songs.
warren, have you heard the new “hole” songs?
they are shit!!!
the demos have been floating around for several years. i once loved hole, but this record is going to blow.
Wow all of you are LOSER DOUCHE BAGS- and such obviously VERY LARGE music fans if all you can do is talk about drugs!! I think it’ll be rad to hear some new tunes from Courtney Love-Cobain, and to hear some stuff from the new She&Him record (loved vol 1!)
there goes the chance of anyone scoring drugs at sxsw. ms. love with have them all.
I am officially afraid for SXSW.
poor old corky. she needs to still to the crack pipe.
