Depp and Richards have become rather close, to the point of Richards portraying Sparrow’s father in the final Pirates installment for added weight of character development. So what, pray tell, could the two of them have up their sleeves now? Depp is taking his second round in the director’s seat to film a Keith Richards documentary. According to a quote from Depp for European website Politika (via The Playlist):
“Now that I’m wiser, and that enough time has passed, I can experience directing again. [...] Already next week I’ll start working on a Keith Richards documentary. While I’m in Drvengrad, my editor is already working on kilometers of archive footage and footage of his concerts. I’m very touched that Keith agreed to show up in front of my cameras.”
1997 saw Johnny Depp’s first attempt at directing with a film titled The Brave, which made its appearance at that year’s Cannes Film Festival. While this is definitely to Depp’s credit, we know there is a fine line between movies… documentaries… and Keith fucking Richards.
We are undoubtedly excited about this, but Depp behind the camera is bound to deter his fangirls from any relative interest. Luckily, we Rolling Stones fans are good to go, it seems — and we might finally get a peek at the mythos that is Keith Richards’ transfusion methods.
