It took four years, but finally (as previously reported) the newest release by Portland indie-rockers Quasi will surface in a couple weeks on February 23rd. Titled American Gong, the forthcoming effort will be the band’s first with new label Kill Rock Stars and their first with bassist Joanna Bolme. And as the hype machine revs its engines, things are starting to pop up:

The newly released track “Repulsion”, which you can download below, exemplifies the trio’s ability to reign in, and create harmonies, through musical freedom and disintegration. While the vocals of Sam Coomes continue to be in the band’s forefront, Janet Weiss’ drumming combined with the abilities of Bolme create a groove superior to many of the current indie-pop trios.

To help promote the new album, and have a blast with its fans, the outfit will kick-off an extensive US tour in early March.  The tour will definitely make a stop near you, as the trio plans to gallivant through the U.S. playing 27 shows, including six in California, with stops in Kansas City, Denver, Portland, Madison, Toronto, Montreal, New York, Nashville, and Chicago.
