Don’t get excited or appalled just yet, but if a certain Burgettstown, Pennsylvania concert venue is to be believed, Jane’s Addiction may be embarking on another co-headlining tour in the near future. This time, with the Smashing Pumpkins, at least according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. The publication reports that Mike Gentile, general manager of Live Nation venue First Niagara Pavilion, listed a double bill of Smashing Pumpkins and Jane’s Addiction as one of several big tours that may come to the venue.
This would be Jane’s Addiction’s first American tour with new bassist Duff McKagan (assuming there is any basis to that rumor), after touring last summer with original bassist Eric Avery, who seems to want no further involvement with the band. Furthermore, this could spark rumors that the Pumpkins might be prime candidates for Mr. Farrell’s beloved Chicago festival.
As long as Jessica Simpson doesn’t come along to perform some duets, this could be very exciting. Or appalling, depending on how pissed off you are at either band. We will, of course, update you as new information becomes available.
