Anyhow, now that The 88 have put their stamp across the pop stratosphere, they are headed back in time to tour with The Kinks. Well, not really. Instead, they will be the back-up band for the upcoming solo tour by The Kinks’ singer and songwriter Ray Davies. Davies is touring to promote the 2009 release of The Kings Choral Collection. Before closing the night out with The 88, fans can expect Davies to play several Kinks’ hits including “You Really Got Me”, “All Day And All Of The Night” and “Waterloo Sunset”.
What may seem like an odd collaboration, The 88′s blend of ’70s influenced approach fused with British invasion melodies will (hopefully) create a beautiful collision with Davies’ classic approach. Tickets to this rare Davies’ tour are available via Ticketmaster, and a list of dates is provided below.
