Watch: Thom Yorke debuts new songs in Cambridge

Never one to shy away from a surprise (this is the same guy who yesterday unexpectedly dropped a U.S. tour on us), Radiohead/Atoms For Peace frontman Thom Yorke took to the Cambridge Corn Exchange in Cambridge, England last night for a “low key solo thing” in benefit of Green Party member Tony Juniper. And while the performance wasn’t necessarily a surprise, what Mr. Yorke played certainly was.

Heard during his 19-song set were three brand new selections; a piano driven ballad called “The Daily Mail”, “Give Up The Ghost”, an eerie yet upbeat number featuring a loop of Yorke pleading “Don’t Hold Me,” and the Neil Young-esque “Mouse Dog Bird”. As was the case when he debuted “Lotus Flower”, “Open The Floodgates”, and other new selections in Los Angeles last fall, Yorke gave no indication as to where all of last night’s newness might end up — though he is rumored to be hitting the studio in April. Atoms For Peace debut LP, anyone?

Speculation aside, courtsey of the Music Slut, you can watch videos of all three new songs below. Then tell you’re friends, because I’m sure they’ll want to see it too.
