In an interview with NME Radio, the British rockers confirmed they will take almost no time off after their touring schedule wraps up.
“We’ve said we’ll stop touring this album and we’re eager to start working on new stuff again, not have time off again,” said drummer Matt Helders.
As to what we can expect, details are a little minimal at this point. However, they can confirm that Queen of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, who produced the last album, might not make a return, despite the band’s desire for a repeat affair. He’s got new Queens of the Stone Age to deal with after all!
“It’s hard to say, both parties are up for it but they have a lot going on around the time we’d need to be recording,” Helders said, “but we’d like to.”
Even without the return of Homme, who added a unique kick to the band’s sound, frontman Alex Turner is already hard at work on brand new songs one baby step at a time.
“We haven’t tied our shoelaces yet, so it’s hard to say [what it would sound like] there’s a few things we’ve been playing around together and we’ve spoke about how we might go about it,” Turner said. “We haven’t started walking yet, the laces are undone, never mind dancing.”
We’ll update you when we know more. In the meantime, check out a semi-new track, aka a recently released b-side titled “The Afternoon’s Hat”, over at The Hype Machine. The track accompanies Humbug‘s third single, “My Propeller”, which was released on March 22nd.
