CoS favorite Ben Kweller is busy at work on his fifth studio LP, but he did recently find time to take part in a photo shoot for Esquire Magazine. Kweller, along with Dierks Bentley, Charlie Mars, Bob Schneider, Griffin House, were flown to Clarksdale, Mississippi and given cool new robes for their shoot with Danny Clinch. They were also given a challenge: to write, perform, and record an original song with lyrics that include the phrase “Somewhere in Mississippi”.
Mr. Kweller’s finished product is an acoustic selection titled “It All Happened (Somewhere in Mississippi)”. Reminicst of material heard on the musician’s most recent release, Horehound, the song proves to be a pretty awesome listen, especially for something created virtually on the spot.
Listen to the track below. There’s also an accompanying music video, which you can find under the mp3. Since March 29th, Esquire.com has been offering one song per day from these musicians to its site readers. For anyone who misses the individual downloads, a complete EP of all five songs will also be available as a free download on Monday, April 5th. After that, the full songs will no longer be available on Esquire.com (or anywhere else). So, download now.
