We’re sure you were probably a little scared when Blitzen Trapper announced they’d be taking a break to write their new album, Destroyer of the Void. What else would you do for experimental folk from Portland, OR? Well, it’s seemed as if time has passed in our favor as the wait for word regarding any news of the album is here at last (via P4k). Longest five months ever.

What we do know, besides a tracklist which you can peep below, is that the album was produced by Mike Coykendall, who has produced the likes of M. Ward to She & Him and beyond, and that Peter and Heather Woods Broderick of Efterklang composed some string arrangements and singer-songwriter Alela Diane makes a one song cameo. And if those aren’t enough, you can also enjoy the first track from the entitled “Heaven and Earth” below as well.

But wait, there’s more. Check the band out on tour in Europe in May and then North America starting June 2nd, including stops at Bonnaroo and the Osheaga Festival.

Destroyer of the Void is out June 8th via Sub Pop.
