With their combination of old analog keyboards, Norwegian pop melodies, and an amazing live show, the Casiokids have quickly created an imprint for their sound. Starting as a keyboard-based electronic-dance band, the quintet has since added guitar and drums to create a more visual experience. It helps that the show incorporates a blend of shadow puppets, video projections and animal costumes. This theatrical live show led to their discovery by Of Montreal. Casiokids have since released the first ever Norwegian language pop single in the UK, the double A-sided Grønt lys i alle ledd/Togens hule via Moshi Moshi.

The band will now attack the US market with the June 8th release of  Topp stemning på lokal bar (loosely translated to “Great vibe at local bar”). Polyvinyl hand-selected eight tracks of the band’s expansive catalog, which will be accompanied by a bonus disc of new material consisting of six remixes and two covers. To promote the US release, Casiokids have been playing everywhere, including 12-date kindergarten tour in Norway, Europe’s largest festivals, and their recent tour with Hot Chip. If you’re headed to SXSW, which you should be, you can check them out, as they will be making numerous appearances. Other dates follow, but don’t expect too many US shows.
