DMX arrested again, lawyer calls on Dr. Drew for help

DMX‘s latest MySpace blog entry from September 2008 reads simply, “It sure feels good to be a free man.” The late-90s superstar MC born Earl Simmons is known as much for his lack of freedom as his rapping, however, and according to Hip Hop DX, he is in trouble again. As DMX gets ready to release a pair of albums this summer, he may have a new roommate in Lil Wayne — X was arrested Tuesday in Arizona for violating the terms of his probation, and he’ll be behind bars without bond until a hearing on March 16th.

The terms of his probation prohibited him from using illegal drugs, and DMX was unable to keep off the stuff. Maricopa County sheriff Joe Arpaio announced Thursday the Yonkers, New York rapper has admitted to cocaine use. Said Arpaio, “I think it’s about time to give him hard time.” Welcome to Ouchtown, population: DMX.

However, we might see some creative punishment this time around. DMX’s lawyer, Gary Jenkins, said X has been “battling addiction for some time and he’s in need of treatment.” He continued, “We’re hoping Dr. Drew might be able to help him.” Kind of a brilliant idea.

Let’s not kid ourselves, the ratings (and reviews) for Celebrity Rehab would shoot through the roof. We all want this, and come on, it’s just drugs. Sheriff Arpaio could be on board with this idea, too. Hip Hop DX reports that Arpaio suggested DMX undergo a drug program while in the big house.
