With Austin’s South By Southwest Conference only 10 days away, the anticipation felt by bands, labels, promoters, and fans is nearing its pinnacle. This five-day event has the ability to introduce genre-defying acts, launch unknowns into the stratosphere, and help indie labels make a statement in the industry.  Plus attendees have the advantage of hearing hundreds of acts all within stumbling distance. The Brazilian garage/soul/rock fusion band Garotas Suecas used last year’s event as a launching pad, being touted as Spin Magazine’s “One of 20 must-hear Artists from SXSW 2009″.

Garotas Suecas, Swedish Girls in Portugese, blend American soul with bright, colorful Brazilian horns and shaking rythms, to create an infectiously funky  beat lifting listeners to their feet and propelling them across the dance floor. With Brazil already under their spell, the six-piece comprised of Guilherme Saldanha (vocals and harmonica), Irina Bertolucci Chermont (organ), Perdido (bass), Sesa (guitar) and the Paoliello brothers, Nico (drums) and Tomaz (guitar) are bringing their show to the states.

Garotas Suecas will commence their tour with seven appearances at this year’s South by Southwest, followed by shows on each coast. In case you forgot, the group’s SXSW stops include a performance at CoS and Sled Island’s SXSW  Party. Head here to secure you entrance, as only 499 individuals will be fortunate enough to experience the amazing up-and-coming lineup. To coincide the tour, American Dust is releasing a 7″ single March 16th. The release will include both “Codinome Dinamite”, which can be heard below, and  ”Ghostwriter”. If you cannot make it to one of these shows listed below, the band hints at a new full-length LP and extended US tour this fall.
