March 9th offered up an array of new music releases. Consumers are now able to purchase the Gorillaz’ Plastic Beach, the posthumous Jimi Hendrix recording First Rays Of The New Rising Sun, Battle of the Sexes by Ludacris, or the debut Broken Bells’ self-titled release. System of a Down’s Serj Tankian also released the CD/DVD recording of his initial orchestral foray of Elect the Dead. This recording took place nearly one year ago, during his March 16, 2009, performance with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra at the Auckland Town Hall.

The Elect the Dead Symphony release was accompanied by the announcement that Tankian will be bringing this performance to the states. Tankian chose to only schedule two summer shows, the first occurring July 9th at Chastain Park Amphitheater in Atlanta and the second on July 30th at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. The Atlanta show will be backed by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, while the Greek Theater will assemble an orchestra for the LA performance. Tickets to the Atlanta event are not yet on-sale, while tickets for the LA show can be purchased here.

Of course, either two dates don’t work for you, there’s always Europe
