Alejandro Escovedo will continue his push for mainstream success on June 29rd when Fantasy Records releases his ninth solo album, Street Songs of Love. Escovedo said the new record is about love and “the pursuit of a feeling that is forever elusive, mysterious, and addictive.”

The 13-song set is his first for Fantasy and will feature the song “Faith” on which Escovedo shares a vocal with none other than Bruce Springsteen, The track is one of many on the album on which Escovedo shares songwriting credits with Chuck Prophet — another storied American songwriter who never achieved widespread popularity.

Forever in the “sounds like column,” success on the big stage has always eluded Escovedo. Despite playing in well-liked bands like Rank and File and The Nuns, he has never reached Springsteen levels of popularity. However, he does share a management team with the boss and, at a 2008 stop in Houston, he joined The Boss for an encore performance of “Always A Friend” from Escovedo’s 2008 masterpiece Real Animal.

No official summer tour has been announced, but Escovedo is wrapping up an acoustic tour and will be  appearing this summer’s LouFest in St. Louis, where he’ll be performing right before Jeff Tweedy.
