If you’ve ever seen We Are Scientists live (say at SXSW 2010), then you know the dynamic between guitarist/singer Keith Murray and bassist Chris Cain. Lots of inside jokes, playful banter, and some male bonding through a single microphone make for a concert experience. And while they may fight like an old married couple on stage, they never let that get in the way of making some good old fashioned danceable rock and roll music.

“Rules Don’t Stop”, the lead single off their upcoming fourth album Barbara, is some quintessential WAS: A bass heavy rhythm that mixes vaguely dance, vaguely New Wave rock on top of a layer of lyricism that speaks to some more mature happening or situation. It’s a sugar sweet beat that displays their ability to describe a concept with depth without losing any of that inherent innocence to it.

Barbara hits stores June 15th. Catch the boys at several UK festivals, including Glastonbury, T in the Park, and Reading and Leeds, this summer.
